You know how we are in Texas and Louisiana, we LOVE us some Southern food. Ain’t nothing like a hometown classic to kick the party off right.

Since this is an all you can eat Bayou City attraction, you can best believe they’re gonna deliver on both sides. And on top of that this is an all day event so you can eat, dance, and party until the cows come home!

When you think of Southern food, what do you think of? Maybe red beans and rice, sweet potato pie, mac and cheese, collard greens, or something fried and smothered in gravy for Texas? Or how about a po’boy, black eyed peas, etouffee, and jambalaya for Louisiana?

This is a place full of Southern cultural classics, so best believe you can find some of your favorites here. The spot will be packed with vendors, food trucks, restaurants, and chefs from all over, so you never know what tasty treats you’ll come across.. Only one way to find out.

The real question is.. are you gonna fall in love more with Texas foods or Louisiana foods? At the end of the day you’re gonna have to give it up to both of these Southern heavyweights because it’s all good.

If you agree that Southern food is tasty, filling, and you want to sample a bit of Tex-ianan food for yourself, then make your way to this cook off food festival.

If you’re in a situation where you can support your people and help your community grow, take it. It’s so beautiful when we come together and support each other. And you can do that, shop local, and indulge in African culture, music, and food, all in one place. How dope is that?

But honestly, saying that this event is dope is an understatement. It’s huge! So huge that they had to make it a two day, back to back event.. in the Ayva Center. The first event is the marketplace. It’s family friendly with an abundance of local vendors and good cultural foods. The second day is the afterparty where you can shake your bum bum to live performances and mixes from the dj of soca, afrobeat, hip hop, r&b, and so much more.

They’re on the road every year touring all around the country to cities like Atlanta, Dallas, DC, Detroit, and of course yours truly, H-town. And if you’ve been in Houston for a little bit, you know their name, and you know their vibe, they’ve been here before. Making this their 4th time in Houston!

You worked hard all week long, now it’s time for you to experience something a little calm, cool, and jazzy.

And it’s all taking place at the lovely Taste Bar + Kitchen. The food here is incredible, there’s always something hot and tasty on the menu. And on top of that, it’s the perfect spot to chill on the weekends.

You can also appreciate the musical talent here, it’s unmatched. One minute they can hit you with an upbeat tempo and then the next something classy and jazzy. They definitely have a little something something for everybody.
