For The Culture

We got Juneteenth, Black History Month, and MLK weekend, just to name a few. But when it comes to Kwanzaa, this is a time of year to reverence new life, be thankful for the old, and pay homage to our ancestors that came before.

It’s through celebrating the 7 Principles of Kwanzaa that we remember the important parts of our culture and community. Kwanzaa is about building strong melanated families, and what better way to do that than through Imani (Faith). Coming together in vendor spaces like Buy Black Marketplace is so awesome! To see all the diversity, creativity, and talent in our community is one of the most exciting ways to restore FAITH back into our families.

A FREE, family friendly event held every year on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This amazing cultural event is put together with support from community staples like SHAPE Community Center, Project Row Houses, and of course the event curators at The Shrine Cultural & Event Center.
